This month was a great month for me, while starting out on my journey developing a business (AvitaDigital) that is showing a promising next couple of months, it also featured my first digital marketing public speaking appearance at BrightonSEO, where I gave a talk entitled Time = Money: Marketing Lifehacks.
Having attended BrightonSEO several times now I can honestly say that it is one of the stand out digital marketing conferences on the entire annual calendar for me. Ran to perfection by the fantastic team at Rough Agenda and Mr. Kelvin Newman, it offers a wonderful mix of speakers speaking about a very broad spectrum of topics. Its name denoting that it’s SEO focused is somewhat misleading nowadays with the speakers list boasting academics, scientists, ‘old school’ marketing legends and many many others. Another delightful feature is that the attendees are somewhat different in nature to those at other conferences of it’s type, probably because it is free, it is attended by a great mixture of people anything from students, professional digital marketers to small business owners.
It is because of this diverse nature of the audience that when I originally approached Kelvin requesting to speak I decided to focus on anything but SEO. While I specialise in this area, I didn’t feel as though I could add anything to the already great line up of speakers, I wanted to play to the crowd and provide something of value no matter what category of attendee they were, no matter what background they come from , or experience they have. I decided to focus on something which I spend a large amount of my time reading about and practicing both in my personal and professional life, using whatever tips, tricks and apps to increase my productivity and ensure that when I have time dedicated to completing a task, I get it completed, there and then.
My original slide deck got a little out of hand, I just had too many good ideas that I wanted to share, and at 120+ slides I realised that, from previous speaking experience this would just create a messy and hard to follow format. I managed to get the proverbial garden shears onto the presentation and with no further ado I present to you my slidedeck for my Time = Money: Marketing Lifehacks presentation, you can see + download these below:
I’d like to take the time to thank Kelvin for having me, all of the awesome team at Rough Agenda for putting on another outstanding event and also all those that came to hear me speak, there were some familiar faces in the audience (thanks guys!) and lots of unfamiliar ones, but I couldn’t have asked for a better speaking experience.
I am really looking forward to my next talk and more fantastic conferences in the near future.
If you are running a conference and think that I would be a good fit to speak then please get in touch. In the meantime, it’s over and out from me.Tags: digital marketing, events, presentation
